Canvas is more like a hard net and suitable for strong but preferably loosely twisted yarn and different stitch types - for example, half cross stitches and long stitches. Used for seats on chairs, pillows and wall hangings etc.
Mono Canvas is stable.
Penelope/ Needlepoint Canvas has two different uses.
1. It is an aid when you want to embroider cross stitches on compact fabric: You wet the threads when the embroidery is done and pull them out.
2. It has double threads and therefore smaller details can be embroidered. You then keep the canvas.
Water Soluble Canvas are perfect for embroidering cross stitches on clothes.
Throw stitch or tape around the edges before embroidering so it want break. When washing the stiffness will vanish. Be careful when washing and stretch the damp fabric afterwards by pinning it.
